How much protein should I be taking?

Im currently taking a Maximuscle promax hi-protein shake (30g scoop) which has 24.3g of protein in it straight after I work out.

My diet is pretty good, not much junk food in it or anything and ive cut out alot of carbs (trying to drop a bit of body fat), but im not on any specific diet plan at all. Im about 70kg and about 5ft11.

Focusing on chest/arms/shoulders at the moment and I usually do 4 sets till failure of incline bench press, dumbell bicep curling and tricep curling. Then a bit of core work and push ups & use the skipping rope the odd time. Going to step it up a bit I think and put in a few sets of pull ups too and more bicep work.
I rest for 1-2 days between work outs depending on how sore I am.

How many shakes should I be taking? Is the one after working out sufficient or should I take more?

Also unrelated, I heard drinking coffee before workouts helps you do more and that it helps shift fat. Is that true?
Cheers

How much protein should I be taking?

At your BW aim for about 155g+ of protein. Try to get the majority of your protein from foods i.e. such sources as eggs, chicken, turkey, cottage cheese, fish and lean beef. The remainder of your protein requirements can be supplemented. I'd suggest choose another protein supplement over the promax for better value and taste.

Yep coffee can increase fat metabolism, although; in the presence of carbs (after eating a carb rich meal) it will favour breaking down the carbs opposed to stored BF. Since carbs pre-workout is essential it would defeat the purpose

Yeah but you could train the smaller groups twice a week. Once i can start training 4 times a week every week as opposed what is an inconsistent 4 cuz of back and wrist problems i want to train arms and calves twice a week.

I focused for so long on the big bodyparts that i think my back is more developed than my front and sore as a result.

Bother with coffee its fucking awesome and makes you hardcore if you drink a pot straight black pre workout like me.

Cheers for the info.

Should I be eating any nuts or stuff like that for protein?
Im trying to drop the small bit of body fat i have by lifting till failure and that, I jump rope first thing in the morning before breakfast to start up my metabolism.

I dont really have a specific diet or anything but I usually eat about 45g of oatmeal with honey or 2 weetabix with honey in the morning followed by a banana or other fruit at about 8am
then at about 10.30 I have something like an apple, an orange nd a nutrigrain bar.
Then go till 1pm and usually have wholewheat pasta and more fruit for lunch, maybe some peanut butter sometimes.
Then just snack on fruit if im hungry during the day.
Have a normal dinner usually a small bit of potato, fresh veg and some meat. If im working out that day I'll have a protein shake after it thats about it!

Ive cut out alot of crap and reduced alot of my carb intake.

Any advice?

Optimum 100% Whey Protein won the Supplement Of The Year and Protein Powder Of The Year award for 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008! Since the very beginning, Optimum Nutrition has raised the standard by which all other whey protein supplements are judged. Now we´re raising the bar again with the 3rd generation of ON 100% Whey Protein: ON 100% Whey Gold Standard.

Directions For Optimum 100% Whey Protein: To encourage a positive nitrogen balance, consume approximately 1 gram of protein per pound of body weight per day from a combination of high protein foods and supplements. For even better results, consume your daily protein allotment over 4-6 small meals spread evenly throughout the day.

so that would be a shaky early morning, around 11, lunch time, 4 o clock, before/after training, before bed time.

tho i'm tired of protein powder my self so i'm getting amino-acids in liquid form, and bsn true-mass for carbs

hmm to be honest:
THERE is NO best protein source- for some WHEY protein will be best for some EGG ALBUMIN- if about content of protein eggs are really weak only 12g per 100g - so in comparison to chicken, beef and fishes where is over 20g per 100g its not too good. If about bioavailability -best is pure Isolate of Whey protein- not EGG Albumin-because protein from EGGS are always Concentrates. Its true about it!!!
