MMA: Randy Couture to face Brock Lesnar in UFC return

Sep 3 2008

UFC legend Randy Couture is set to return to the sport after a year out for a megabucks fight to defend his Heavyweight title against former WWE star Brock Lesnar.

The 45-year-old Hall of Fame star, who has spent the last year on the sidelines following a legal dispute with the Ultimate Fighting Championship, will make his long awaited return to the Octagon in November - and put his belt on the line in what looks set to be the biggest fight in MMA history.

He had been expected to sit out the rest of his contract to set up a pay-per-view heavyweight clash with former Pride champion Fedor Emelianenko - who is now under contract to the rival Affliction group - but has been lured back after resolving his dispute with UFC management for the big money bout against Lesnar.

And the winner of the fight, to be held in Las Vegas, will face the victor from December's Frank Mir v Antonio Nogueira interim heavyweight title clash sometime in 2009 to be crowned undisputed champion.

I hated every minute of training, but I said, ''Don't quit. Suffer now and live the rest of your life as a champion.''

I would have liked to see Couture win it, but it was a good fight, while it lasted! Another round would have been nice.

A lot of MMA fans would have Jeff, they kind of see Brock as taking the piss out of the sport.

WWE Wrestling "Legend" to failed NFL kicker to UFC Champion?

WWE Wrestling "Legend" to failed NFL kicker to UFC Champion?

He was a linebacker or defensive end not a kicker. You also have to remember that he was an extremely good amateur wrestler before ever going into the wwe, winning the 2000 NCAA championship.

It was a good fight. Really surprised at how easily randy controlled in the clinch. Thought lesnar would just out power him. It was a good fight.

very good fight, i dont like brock and was up for couture, would have love to have seen the big ginger twat get his nose flattened by randy

u do realize that im just going to keep making accounts. The fact you cant even respond to my apoligy just confirms your grudge. Like you dislike me because i posted an honest review. Like you should be apoligising to me the way i see it but yet im willing to let this all go but yet your still acting like a child by not even responding.

I can't wait to see more fights with Brock, he represents the future of the sport. Being big and strong isn't enough, you gotta be an UNREAL athlete too.

Have you seen his training vids on youtube?
