Totally,

1. It's a change
2. You're hitting your fast twitch fibers which are thicker and stronger than your slow twitch
3. You'll improve your CNS so that when you go back you'll be able to recruit more fibers
4. You'll enjoy getting stronger & lifting heavier weights than normal!!

ye we tended to use alot of 5x5 sets in our preseason last year. we also did shed loads of circuits of different movements like hitting a tyre with a sledgehammer, dragging a 30 meter boat rope up a hill and military crawls, bear crawls. i found that it really helped overall stergnth. but it has 2 be said without a rock solid core your going no where
