I'm about to start a full time masters course which I will be working part time as well to pay for, from my college and work timetable that I have there doesn't look like theres any way of me getting the time to do a 4 day workout, I have never done less than 4 day weeks before so my question is can I still make decent gains even though I will only be doing a 3 day week? and if so what sort of training should be done in these 3 days?

If somebody you knew asked you this exact same question what would you say to them?

I was always under the impression that you can definitely maintain with a 3 day week, but progression would be minimal, would I be far off the marker with that statement??

Maintain what?

Progress isn't dependant on the amount of time spent training, but the quality of time spent training.

So, to answer your question, 3 days a week will be 'good enough' if you train with sufficient intensity and intelligence to make it work.

Sarcasm, thats great. Well look if you ask a stupid question your going to get a stupid answer. It was like saying 'heres my diet... food... I eat... is that ok for training'?

If you had copped on to what I was trying to say and actually outlined what it was you were training for, where you're at right now, what your training and diet structure looked like, and what you were hoping to achieve I would have said...

'Come down to raw any day I'm working (free day pass), I'll have a look at what you're doing (for free), I'll have a chat with you about your training, take you through a few things that might help progress while training three days a week etc etc etc.

But since we're being smartarses about it now, I'll assume you just wanted someone to say yes you'll be fine, have a pat on the back for your efforts. Best of luck with your training.

Man all bullshit aside, I think you are fine. Keep up the good work. You are a true monster and an inspiration to us all. Props are well in your favour.

what split did you go for on your 3 days? i have to switch from 4 to 3 cos my season has started back so im back training with them so im trying to decide between a 3 day split of push, pull, legs.... chest&bis, back&tris, legs&shoulders, or just 3 full body sessions. im gonna go with push pull legs unless someone suggests otherwise. i have one of the those PT sessions in raw so im might give you a shout kieran and get that sorted and see what you or one of the lads in raw suggest.
also im starting to take phd synergy to help recovery cos pre season and 3 days of weights will take it out of me. from the 2 servings a day you only get 5g of creatine. should i take another 5grams serperately through the day to get me up to 10grams a day. cheers lads

No I only take 10 gr of creatine from storm cuz i like the drink itself...also it supplies leucine which is great for my periodic fasting.

It has been proven in more than one controlled study that daily ingestion of a mere 2 gr creatine, following a 7 day creatine monohydrate load up @ 15 gr maintains PCr levels at 20% or thereabouts above basal levels.

So yeah 5 gr is more than enough.

I told you i dont eat breakfast anymore and its working a treat. This morning i had 2 cups of coffee and an espresso for breakfast...started training 2 hours later and got 102.5 kg for 4 (almost 5 but spot came in half way) on bench. That's a PR.

When insulin levels are elevated in the body, it is physiologically impossible to burn muscle for energy (on a cell to cell basis). When insulin is present in the bloodstream it is also impossible oxidize fatty acids from adipocytes.
