When insulin levels are elevated in the body, it is physiologically impossible to burn muscle for energy (on a cell to cell basis). When insulin is present in the bloodstream it is also impossible oxidize fatty acids from adipocytes. |

I take that point and it makes sense to a degree!! But using that info then surely u take carbs pre and during workout??
I think it could be grounds for placing a greater emphasis on pre and during wo nutrition but it is certainly not grounds for ignoring post wo nutrition...
Regardless of the science behind insulin levels and blood flow etc etc you as a weight lifter must recognise that the basics of what we do when weight training is is to break the muscle down and then in recovery the muscle will repair to a greater quality/size/strength than previously! So for this to happen we must feed our trained bodies adequately in the recovery period.
(these are just some simple and basic conclusions i draw from the basic rules of nutrition... and from the most important piece of information.. you do not grow in the gym, you grow in the kitchen and when we rest!!!)

Yes there have been plenty of studies regarding PWO nutrition etc, but i believe in what makes sense to me. I'd rather have the nutrients availalble when im causing increasing amounts of blood flow to the muscle (at the very beginning/intra training) as the blood is leaving the muscle - Post workout.
why not have both

Im cutting at the moment but the best time for high insulin levels seems to be pre workout although if you spike the levels your blood sugar levels will plummet

Not a fan of an insulin spike pre-workout, usually results in a good start to the workout followed by a crash. Low-medium GI carbs 90 mins prior to workout does the job for me.

due to adrenaline and noradrenaline and some different catecholamines. insulin responce is blunted as soon as exercise begins- therefore pre training carbs [taken within 10-15 minutes before, will have a near minimil effect on blood sugar levels- hence its use in diabetis
post workout insulin spiking will help replenish,
but more importantly decrease cortisol
the post workout "window" is important but somewhat an obsessive compulsive myth
